You may have noticed I have been very quiet over the past year. The reason being that I have been locked away in a converted barn on the north east coast of the UK, creating and crafting my brand new album entitled 'The Lovers'.
On this record, I decided to take a different approach to that of 2010's 'The Devil and I'. Rather than demo everything I wrote to the letter, this time I went into the studio with only 1 or 2 complete songs. The rest of which were just ideas recorded on my mobile phone, ideas ranging from guitar or keyboard parts to the sound of hitting a petrol can with a hairbrush. Some of these ideas were as little 10 seconds in length. I took these ideas into the studio, slowly allowing my brain to conceive and construct exactly what I was feeling at the time of the recording - eventually crafting them into songs.
The result is my most honest, my most natural and I think my most accomplished work to date.
The album is now finished. It is mixed, mastered and ready for your ears.
So here is where you, my beloved fans, come in. Just like how I approached the recording of this album differently, I would like to approach how I release this record differently, and I would like to offer you the opportunity to personally be involved.
I would like to release this album on my own record label, cutting out the middlemen. I have set a target of just how much money would need to be raised in order to do this properly. The majority of the money will be used to manufacture, distribute and promote the album to the highest possible standard. The remainder of which will pay for my new band, rehearsals and a tour so that I can finally take the full band show out on the road proper and (finally) come to visit your town.
If you look at the list on the right of the pledge page, you will see that as well as just pre-ordering the album I have prepared a whole bunch of exclusives that I can offer you in exchange for your pledge. I have tried to make the exclusives as personal and fan-centred as possible to show just how appreciated every single penny pledged is.
